My Great-Aunt JoAnne first gave me The Arm of the Starfish by L’Engle, which I read quickly and proceeded to other books by L’Engle, A Ring of Endless Light being my favorite. My parents gave this copy to me as a gift for my sixteenth birthday. While I’ve since learned this copy is not a "true first," I treasure it not only because it reminds me of my family, but also because A Ring of Endless Light introduced me to one of my favorite poems: Henry Vaughan’s “The World.”
